Devastated

A day of tiredness, from nothing but combating my negative thoughts.
The previous mcq paper has gave me a vital strike.
I cant remember any of the questions after the exam. As one of my coursemate decribed: "It was too 'traumatic' to remember any of the questions. Our natural defense response chose to forget-- a way to prevent further catastrophic destructions". The morning of hecticness and rushings made the situation worse as i was already exhausted before the exam even started. But no, i'm not blaming it as i enjoy working. I get to treat people. I'm not regretting too as more readings will not help either.
I literally woke up the second day and start revising for the resit (not joking!). That's how hopeless i am.
OSCE is coming, in 2 days time. Still trying hard to gather my courage, hold my fallen pieces together.

~My Little Space~

To dear friends and family members who're wondering how's The D3ViL/Teh december/yipei/ah pei/pei/Yi (wat ever tat u call me) 's room looks like..
Here's a little clue..

Little 'japanese corner' where my laptop sits on top of a white stand, facing a long window tat stretches abt 1 1/2 metres high. This is my most favourite corner tat allows me to leave all the stresses behind, relax my mind after uni, stare blankly at the evening sky, with lights off and smooth jazz playing background music. There's a white tea table beside where i can sumtimes sit on the floor n get some work done. Loving the view outside the window. Although it's not amazingly breathtaking, i'm content enough being able to watch planes stretching accross the blue sky in clear days.


The dim incandescent lamp outside can sometimes be so annoying especially during sleepless nights.

At the right side of this corner sits a queen size bed. On its right is another tiny corner where a white flowery table lamp serves its role to light the area.

Last but not least, my working zone. Hardly ever sit on that spinning chair. When i do, i'll mostly be looking at the world map, thinking of my next vacation, or else calculating how far away i am from beloved home. =p
The table is in real messy at the moment. It's EXAM TIME!!!

Right.. enough of nonsence. Before i actually shut-up-and-do-some-revision.. here are some nice pictures.

Think i shall dedicate this whole post to the best tutor in DH clinic -- Dr. Rickmann! (Luke)
There's no other tutor that's as dedicated as him, as humble as him, as approachable as Luke!!

Was doin an endodontic treatment on a lower left 7. My clinical partner was ill and couldnt make it to clinic today. So i got help from a trainee nurse who know nothing.

There's no problem for me to reach the distal canal as it's huge and round. I'm sure any ppl with normal vision can see that massive canal. However the 2 mesials were giving me nightmares. Luke helped to locate the twin earlier and done the access cavities. They are both sitting right next to each other and there's no direct vision into the access. So most of the time, i'm just digging blindly, by feel, hoping that i did get into the smallest canal(mesio-bucally) instead of keep filing the bigger one (mesio-lingual).
With lots of luck, i did manage to widen up all 3 canals to MAF 25. heh!

Next -- Radiographs for working length (WL). We've learnt how to take x-rays for endo WL estimations in theory, but this is the 1st time to put it into practical... Shivers..

Luke came over with a big smile:" so how r you doin there??" -- Typical him!
His smiles is always so encouraging, drawing me out from my stress, making me feel tat my saviour is here! =D

He took a look into the tooth n found out that there's saliva leakage. Bad news -- bcoz bacteria can get into the canals and cause infection. It's easily solved with Oraseal. However Oraseal doesnt really work this time as i've lost my mesial wall and saliva can still leak in. Well, we just leave the problem aside n move on to our radiographs.

Luke:" Hm... it's gunna be hard to place the files when u're in the radio room isnt it?"
Me with an 'oh god please help me~~ face' : "Yea.. i think so.. cant even see the canals.."
Luke gave me a big huge grin again: " well, go n check if there's any vacancies in the radio section and i'll come with you when it's ready".

I was superly duperly happy at that instant!!! Felt like i've just won a lottery or something. Wanna give our lovely tutor a big bear hug!!!!

Off i ran ..

It was a bit messy when we're trying to set the patient up as the rubber dam gets in our way and the patient salivates a lot! Luke went back to the clinic to get me a frame to hold the rubber dam while i tried to place the files in. Luke was watching from behind.
"maybe a twizer will help".
Before i actually said i'm fine without it, he ran off to clinic again and get me a MPT (mirror, Probe, Twizer) kit...

Back of my head i was thinking -- Where can you find a tutor that'll run to the clinic TWICE to get his student little things?!!! He's a tutor eh.. a TUTOR! not a 'kehlehfeh'!!
I even told the radiographer(Amir) that Luke is such a good tutor!! ^^

The files were already set whn he's back with the MPT. "Brilliant!" Amir taught me how to take the radiographs and sent it off to be processed.

The canals were temporarised with TGPax(containing CaOH & iodiene) which is bacteriocidal and the cavity is temporarised with Fuji II.

After sending the patient off, i was left alone to clean up the mess and finish-up my notes. The nurses have left, soon as the clock struck 5!! Luke stayed and waited. He even got a warning from the senior nurse for finishing late in almost every session.. poor Luke..

The radiographs turns out good. Spot on!
On signing, Luke said:"Great!! You've done very well today!! When you come back in 3 weeks time, we can clean and fill the canals."

The Wall of Ming

Always.. at this time when exam is around the corner,
the closer the day to depart, the more i miss m'sia..
It was a gloomy day today, been raining for most of the hours.
The scent of the rain, the sound of the raindrops tapping on my window, the cooling and refreshing breeze in a burning hot day ...
all reminded me more of m'sia..
It's good in a way.
It keeps me at home, to concentrate on my revision.
No more of goin out nor socialising, for just a short period of time.

Watched a documentary on TV, about the history of The Great Wall of China (The Wall of Ming).
It illustrated how the border of northern China suffered from Mongolian's attack for years during the Ming Dynasty, and finally the Minister of War (Qi Jiguang) came out with a plan of repairing and continue to construt a stronger and more elaborate defense wall using bricks. I was amazed that it only took them about 3 years to complete 1000 watchtowers on top of mountains that stand several thousands of metres high above sea level, without a proper path to walk on, nor any modern technologies, just with men power. The plan worked well to defend the empire against Manchu invations for a few decades until a stupid King who succeeded the throne sacked his Minister of War after listening to his corrupted group of officers. In the end, the king commited suicide and Manchu took over the Forbidden City!! *DAMN STUPID !!!*

Being me AGAIN

reckless me just laied my palm on the burning ceramic plate which came out straight fr the oven accidentally..
Ran to the tap n plunge my hand into the running water. However pain returns as soon as i withdraw my hand.
Another blister.....
Sumone mentioned before that it'll relief by applying toothpaste..
So i stole Oli's precious Darlie toothpaste fr the toilet (shhhhh~~~~)
- suppose to be *the most cooling toothpaste* in our hse..
but no help at all......


now it's red n swollen with fluid accumulating.
Pain is still INTENSIFYING...
Nothing that i can do..
If only i have a tube of topical anaesthetic.. (found another good use of it =p)
hope dentistry wouldnt be a problem tmr.

Had a presentaion this morning. Was nervous since last night (which is useless whn thought abt it now). Kept repeating myself in mind.
Well.. everything turned out good today.. It was fun indeed. Secretly enjoy the 2 minutes of questioning, fighting the challenges and answering to all the queries arised ---- ADRENALINE RUSH =)

It's Melissa's birthday today.. Sweet PL n MW decided to cook her a dinner since everyone else was too busy to celebrate her special day. The busy body- me wanted to bug into their party too n so i went to help =p. PL n MW cooked her a spicy lamb stew & cabbage.

Their 1st trial making lamb stew. It turns out GOOOOOOOOOOD!!! It was very spicy 'apparently' but we all enjoyed the dinner.


I was given the task to make Melissa a birthday cake. It's my 1st time to bake a whole cake on my own!!! hohoho .. so excited! Was bein extra careful when i was doin all the measurements and making sure myself was following the recipe without missing anything.. I swear i paid more effort in baking this cake then studying!! =p It was so fun playing with the flour, sieving, and mixing ^^ It was messy... hehhe
MW helped to set the oven to the right temperature.

With lots of luck, the cake turns out success!!!

We sang her a birthday song. Melissa sang herself a birthday song too.. hahha
