hmmm...
Have been searching for the name of this drink for years, since our visit to a Spanish island called Majorca.
Douglas, Oli, Ailing and I got lost on our way home, searching for local Spanish cuisine on a Sunday evening. Everywhere else were closed. In the end we manage to find an old canteen-look Spanish restaurant and decided to give it a try. There were no customers inside. An old couple who we believed are the restaurant owners gave us a warm welcome and passed us a few menu. They were all in Spanish. Both the owners doesn't speak English either..
Among the 4 of us, Douglas was the only person who has learnt a few Spanish vocabularies in his Uni. So he was promoted as our translator between the owner and us..
While waiting for our food to be served, we observed if there were any customers stopping by. However no one turned up. We got a little concerned, worrying that the food will be bad.. However we still manage to keep our minds as positive as we can be.
Food was served after about 45 minutes wait. We did get a bit impatient. However the Seafood Paella and Fideua were awesome! Their seafood were fresh and the portions were huge too. That was the best Spanish Paella that i've ever had.
The lady owner gave us s shot of 'Spanish sweet alcohol' each before we left. She even left two whole bottles of the drink on the table and asked us to help ourselves. It was very sweet. Fruity taste. To be honest, i would never know that is an alcohol if Oli hadn't warn me not to over drink, thinking it was a fruit juice. That was the best alcohol that I've ever tasted too! However i didn't manage to get the name of that drink.
I have missed the restaurant and the food so much. Been looking for the drink for years but i've never found the name. Today i accidentally read a travel blog and found the general name of that magic drink - Aguardiente!!!
HAhahahhh.. I wish to get hold of it soon... hopefully..
Bravo Spain!!!
One of my best memory in Majorca ^^
